Barbara Jo Jewell

Barbara Jo (Handy) Jewell, age 80, Valley Station, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in her home, on Friday, May 27, 2016, after fighting illness for many years. She was born in Hart County, KY to Raymond “Jack” Handy and Bernice Overfelt Hert, whom she joins in Glory. She is also predeceased by great granddaughter Bryn Nelson.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 62 years, James “Tom” Jewell; daughters, Vicki Jewell (Frank Binford), Louisville and Monica Jodoin (Tim), Cottage Grove, WI; grandchildren, US Navy Chaplain Travis Jewell (Misty), St. Mary’s, GA, Amanda “Mandy” Kays, Susanne Binford, Louisville and Brooke Link (Johnny), Jeffersonville, IN; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Patsy Morrison, Pilot Mountain, NC as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Hwy with burial to follow at Louisville Memorial Gardens West; with visitation from 4 - 8 p.m. on Monday and 11 a.m. – noon on Tuesday.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions, in her memory, to Ormsby Heights Baptist Church, her home church for over 40 years.
