Barbara Lee Gordon

(June 1931 – October 2021)

Barbara Gordon, 90, of Cary, NC (formerly a long-time resident of Louisville, KY) passed away in Cary, NC, on October 26, 2021. She was a graduate of Norton School of Nursing in Louisville, KY. She was a practicing RN at Norton Hospital in Louisville following her graduation, and then at Valley Medical in Valley Station, KY for over 40 years.

Her family and friends were the most important part of Barbara’s life, and she was strong in her Christian faith. She was a long-time member of Valley Station Baptist Church. She amused everyone to the end with her witty stories, songs and jokes. Everyone will miss her ready smile.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Gordon, of Louisville, KY and her sister, Clarice House, of Hilton Head, SC. She is survived by her brothers, Robert Brimm of Bardstown, KY and Thomas Brimm of Georgetown, IN, and her beloved only child, Mark Gordon of Cary, NC, along with his wife, Susan, step-granddaughter Gwen Mellows and step-great granddaughter Clara Mellows, both of Chapel Hill, NC.

A celebration of Barbara’s life was held on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 2pm at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway. Visitation with the family was from 12 noon until the time of the service.

Interment of Barbara’s ashes will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Louisville, KY.
