Anna Christine Johnson Adams, 89, long-time resident of Valley Station, passed from this earth on Friday, November 11th, at home surrounded by her loving daughters. Anna was born in Barren County in 1933 to Polie and Eula Johnson. The Johnson family was big and full of love and laughter. She loved her brothers and sisters and their life growing up together on the farm. In 1951, Anna married Dean Elroy Adams. They moved to Louisville from Hart County and built a beautiful life and family together. Anna retired from General Electric Appliance Park in 1994 after 25 years of dedicated service. In addition to her parents and husband, Anna was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Backof, sons-in-law Gary Backof, Donald Bell, Brian Thomas, and Douglas Kelley; 4 sisters; and 5 brothers. She is survived by 4 daughters: Cathy Bell-Thomas; Carolyn Ives (Kelly); Carla Kelley; Cynthia Nichols (George); 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of extended family members and friends. And she loved them all!
Anna was determined, independent, forward-thinking and devoted to her home and family—a very kind, strong, and loving woman who tried to instill those same qualities into her children and grandchildren. She was known to enjoy crushing various opponents in a feisty card game of Pitch (amusingly known to her grandchildren as "the made-up game"). She was an excellent seamstress, wonderful cook, and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She loved traveling on family vacations and hosting holidays in her home, especially making Christmases perfect for her loved ones. She was a big fan of late-night runs to Waffle House, Krispy Kreme, and White Castle; taking scenic drives to nowhere; and having coffee and fun conversations at her kitchen table. A wonderful mother and friend, an extremely proud and doting Mamaw, and the very heart of our big, loving family—our Anna Christine will forever be missed by all those that love her. Godspeed Mom.
