Alan Russell Jones (AJ), 60, of Louisville, Kentucky, went peacefully to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. AJ was born in Chicago, IL on January 12, 1961 to the late James W. Jones (Willie) and Camille (Falkenburg) Jones.
He is survived by his devoted children, Jennifer Jones of Louisville, Kentucky and Bradley Jones (Kimberly) of Brandenburg, Kentucky; his beloved step-mother Betsy L. Jones of Louisville, Kentucky, his mother Camille Jones of Nashville, Tennessee ; six siblings, Cathy Boyd (Tom) of Joelton, Tennessee, Scott Jones (Tammy) of Irvine, Kentucky, Sherry Keen of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, Karen Jones (Cliff) of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, Jim Mulloy (Dianah) of Louisville, Kentucky and Vickie Swenson (Pete) of Fallbrook, California; four grandchildren, Isabella Remines, Kate Jones, Greyson Jones, and Ellie Jones (Boss Baby); many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
In addition to his father, AJ was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gary W. Keen. He graduated from Fern Creek High School in 1979. Following high school, AJ went to WKU to play football. He enjoyed his days as an offensive lineman at WKU and was also a proud WKU dad when his son also decided to attend WKU. AJ spent 25 years as an automatic door installer at Dormakaba where he worked beside many great friends. AJ was a simple man who would give the shirt of his back if that was what someone needed. He never asked for much; when asked what he wanted for Christmas or his birthday he would respond “I just want to keep what I got.” It brought joy to AJ to give gifts and he was notorious for surprising his children at work just to bring them gifts. He was so proud of his children and adored his grandchildren. If you had a conversation with AJ, there was a 100% chance he would talk about either his kids or his grandkids.
Visitation will take place at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd. Louisville, KY 40218 on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 4-7PM and on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 10-2PM. A celebration of AJ’s life will begin at 2:00pm at the funeral home. AJ will be laid to rest in Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in AJ’s memory to Louisville Metro Police Foundation.
