Patricia I. Ogilvie, 92, a Morro Bay resident, peacefully passed away on Easter Sunday April 5, 2015, at her home. Born in August 1922, in Riverside, Rhode Island, the only child of John and Getrude (Bott) McGowan, she was educated in public schools and subsequently enjoyed a career as an Executive Secretary. In 1943, she married her beloved Richard Ogilvie. After living in several United States cities, including a period of time in the Bahamas, they settled together in the Southern California area to raise their two children. She was very active in community groups having served as Past President of the Assistance League, the Foothill Communities Chapter and the Covina Woman's Club. In 2000, a short time after the death of her husband, Mrs. Ogilvie relocated to Morro Bay. She attended Morro Bay Presbyterian Church and joined Newcomers, Book Club and the local Chapter of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization). She was also a very active Bridge player, playing in multiple groups monthly. She leaves behind a daughter, Paula Ogilvie of Corona, Calif.; son, Bruce Ogilvie of Morro Bay; granddaughters, Kimberly (Tony) Checchia of Lake Elsinore and Leslie White of Corona, and three great- grandchildren: Rylan and Easton Checchia and Riley Apra. She was preceded in 1999, by her beloved husband, Richard. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the P.E.O.
