Jeng-Eng Lin, age 74, of Los Osos, California passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 due to complications of lymphoma. Jeng-Eng was born on July 13, 1947, the second in a family of six sons, and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. He received his doctorate in mathematics from Brown University and was a professor at George Mason University for 33 years. During these years, Jeng-Eng also spent many hours in community service, donating his time to strengthen Chinese-American and underprivileged communities. Upon retirement, Jeng-Eng continued to do research and teach at Georgetown University.
Jeng-Eng is survived by his wife, Shu-Ping, his two children, Oliver and Joyce, their spouses Talia and Ian, and five grandchildren, Elijah, Ariav, Zeva, Carter, and Leora. He is remembered as kind, exceptionally patient, hardworking, and intelligent. He loved his grandchildren and was enthusiastically adored in return. Jeng-Eng worked to give his family the best and fought cancer bravely until the end. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
