William D. Gould

Bill was born on November 21,1938 in Los Angeles to Mary Elizabeth Balzer and David Gould, who met while attending University of California at Los Angeles. He attended Transfiguration Grammar School, Loyola High School, Loyola University (Class of 1960), and UCLA Law School (1963), where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the UCLA Law Review and graduated first in his class.

He worked as an associate at O’Melveny & Myers from 1963-1986, and made partner in 1970. He later joined Joseph Troy in creating the boutique law firm TroyGould in Century City, where he concentrated on corporate law. Bill made substantial contributions to the legal community by teaching and mentoring lawyers, publishing numerous legal articles, and serving on boards of legal organizations, including as Chairman of the L.A. County Bar Association. He also served on public and private corporate boards of directors and on the Board of Regents at Loyola Marymount University.

Bill was the original “most interesting man in the world.” He was an avid Thoroughbred horse owner and breeder, music aficionado, and a man who lived his faith. Bill gave the fullest measure of himself to everything he did, exuding a tremendous vitality, optimism, and enthusiasm for life. He will be greatly missed by the many people whose lives he touched.

Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann Gould (née Kenney), six children, twelve grandchildren and his sister Suzanne Lehman.

The funeral services will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 504 N. Roxbury Drive, Beverly Hills on Monday, August 13th at 10am (Rosary will be held on Sunday, August 12th at 7pm at Good Shepherd.) The burial will be private.
