Dear John and Logan,
I've done business with Joyce since the 1990's.  I was very saddened to hear the news and I am truly sorry for your loss.  Joyce was a great business woman and a pleasure to work with.  I always respected her savvy business acumen.  We connected as business women, as mother's, and shared our passions.  She frequently expressed her love for both of you.  As a mother of a boy, I know how deeply she loved her son.  You are in my prayers.

I first met Joyce over 20 years ago at John Murrough and have many fond memories of her. I always admired her sense of style, her strength and beauty. I always enjoyed my visits there (shopping too) but was always sure to never be late with an order! Over the years our paths would cross and it was like seeing an old friend again. She was truly a warm and loving person that I will never forget.

I've known joyce forever.  we colored our hair together at the age of 13 and lied to our parents, claiming it was lemon.  I will miss her every birthday as we were 3 days apart and even with her busy schedule  we managed to find time to have lunch together every year.  After many years in and out of each other lives, this will leave a big hole in my life.

I was very fortunate to know Joyce and her wonderful warmth and wit.    She was so incredibly talented, strong and successful, yet always even keeled and natural.  She was there when I needed help, without my ever having to ask.  She, John and Logan knew just when to step in and to take Henry into their family for a wonderful, relaxing, trip through Wyoming and Montana.  I will always be grateful for Joyce's friendship.

I first met Joyce during our shared experiences of peering through the kindergarten window at the Center. She always looked gorgeous and I admired her style.  I also had a great deal of respect for her creativity and business acumen.  She made beautiful jewelry and hip, stylish handbags.

The last time I saw Joyce was at eighth grade graduation.  She looked so great and was so happy and proud of Logan, you'd never know she'd been fighting the hardest battle of her life.  She is already missed.

I have the most wonderful memories of my dear friend Joyce. She understood me better than I understood myself. She made me a better person, a better parent and just always brought a smile to my face.  My son Hayward loved her like a mother and she treated him like a son. I still miss our mornings carpooling to the Center! God forbid I was late! I will always remember our many trips to Cabo and Hawaii. We were supposed to go this summer. Joyce should I cancel or just wait a bit longer?  I will always be greatful for Joyce and how much she cared about people. She expected so much as a friend and deserved it because she gave so much. John and Logan you know how much I love you and how I look forward to the future. Joyce we will always make you proud and you will live in our hearts forever and ever. God bless you.

Dear John and Logan,

Our thoughts are with you in this difficult time.  We will always remember Joyce as energetic, positive, loving, encouraging, and, of course, just plain fun to be with (not to mention gorgeous!).  Even when she did not feel herself these last several months, she valiantly joked with her friends and asked all about their lives and their children, never focusing on anything but the positive in her own life.  May the memories of the wonderful years you spent together and the knowledge that she loved you more than anything remain in your hearts and carry you through the difficult times.  We will all miss her.

I was truly honored to have had Joyce in my life over the last decade.  Joyce was a beautiful lady in every way.  What I will remember first and foremost about Joyce was her absolute and complete devotion to her husband and son.  However, Joyce also had a very full life with lots of friends, playdates, events, trips, pets and, of course, her business.  I feel so fortunate to have been a part of her life and will remember, in particular, our fun, fun nights out on the town, trips to the beach, lunches and just our regular communication.  She was a wonderful friend.  Thanks for brightening our lives Joyce!  We love you and miss you terribly.

I remember the first time I met Joyce, she was so lovely, warm and welcoming with an intoxicating smile. It was a Monday morning school assembly, I was new to my daughter's school and didn't know anyone. Joyce was standing next to me and she turned and introduced herself and we started chatting. I thought to myself, what a lovely person. Every time I saw Joyce on campus she always had that wonderful smile and had a happy-go-lucky personality. I always admired how important family was to her. 

We may have been mere acquaintances, but I will miss her greatly. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you and Logan during this difficult time.

Joyce and i first met in 1982 soon after my arrival from South Africa. I was immediately drawn to her and we became fast and furious friends. On Saturday nights we used to get all gussied up and hit Mortons for a night of gossip, laughter and people watching. Five or six years later, I started a clothing line under my own name. Joyce and I had always spoken of doing something but the timing was not quite right. Six months later , i was overwhelmed and called Joyce to see if she was interested in joining me. In typical fashion, Joyce was at the office the next morning at 9am and dove right in, the beginning of a marvelous partnership. I will miss her enormously. She was funny, extremely caring, and a wonderful mom to logan and wife to John, and lets not forget she was a gorgeous gal!!

It was so wonderful to have Joyce as a parent in our school.  Her boundless energy, unlimited enthusiasm, cheerful humor and infinite patience made her a valued and trusted friend and member of the school community.  Being around Joyce was always electric. Joyce was one of my very best clients I have ever had. Yes I am her hairdresser, and have been for the past 20 years. We met through our dear friend John Murrough all those years ago. Her hair was indeed her crowning glory, and everyone she sent to me wanted their hair to look like hers. Not always possible. I loved her for her loyalty, commitment  and friendship I will miss her terribly. My condolences to John and Logan and all the people in her life that she meant so very much to.

We were blessed to literally have our lives assigned to Joyce... She was  designated as our "welcoming mom" at CEE--the one to help us find our way and make us feel at home. She always had the best snacks for the kids and capppuccinos for the moms, and arranged carpools, tennis lessons, summer camps and fundraisers for Katrina families. No major occasion escaped her touch, whether it be memorializing our children on bracelets for the holidays, or designing jewerly and handbags for friends on their birthdays. 

And what a friend she was... a real girl-friend that met you for long lunches, always remembered important anniversaries, and most of all,  showered you with a lot of love.

The creativity, style, smarts and joy that she bestowed on all of us will be with us forever.

Joyce came into my life when our children were about 8 months old. We were in mommy and me class and I was immediately captivated by her. That day marked the beginning of an amazing friendship. Not only did she and I become the best of friends, but so did our boys and our husbands. We vacationed together.... the men took our boys on father and son trips.... priceless memories. Joyce's strength, grace, her zest for life and her love for her family are what I will remember most. My last visit with her in her final few weeks was spent laughing and reminiscing about our children and especially Logan.... what an amazing young man he is. Joyce was like a sister to me and she will forever live on in my heart and in my memories. I will miss her so.

We had the pleasure of meeting Joyce in the fall of 2000 at the Center
where both our children attended school. She was a lovely and warm individual who made everyone feel special in her presence. Our thoughts and prayers are with her son, Logan and husband, John during the most difficult of times. She will be remembered for her kind and compassionate heart.

Joyce and I first met when Logan and Austin were one year old at Rancho Park at a picnic. I knew then that through our sons, we would develop a friendship. I can remember many good times we shared as moms and as wives together with our spouses and children. If someone asked me to describe Joyce, I would have to say a wonderful human being who is kind, loving, compassionate, giving and gracious.  My thoughts and prayers are with John and Logan during this very diffuclt time. She will be missed by many and was loved by all.

I will remember Joyce as a formidable woman with unrelenting love for her beautiful son Logan and loving husband John. Joyce and I had a unique friendship whose strength unsuspectingly surfaced during times that mattered ... and punctuated the last ten years with memorable moments of deep appreciation and understanding.  Her smile and the sound of her laughter are lasting memories ... until our paths cross again.

My fondest memories of Joyce, and the Joyce I will always remember, will be those many, many occasions when I dropped-off or picked-up Kyle at her house.  It was never a quick hello or goodbye between us.  She would always invite me in to talk about the boys, school or whatever was on our minds (or have me play ping-pong with John).  It always made the (relatively) long drive up and down Benedict Canyon worthwhile.  I last saw Joyce on March 26.  While we knew it would probably be the last time we saw each other, I was grateful for the opportunity just to hold her hand and visit with her one-on-one.  Joyce, I will miss you.

I only had a brief opportunity to become acquainted with Joyce but her special spirit and kindness was very touching.She had a warm glow and loving spirit that was evident at first glance. I see those special traits in her wonderful son, Logan. My son, Todd, is best friends with Logan and I can assure you that Todd is hoping to be a rock that Logan can lean on all through this difficult journey. Todd adored Joyce and felt very lucky to be able to see her in her final days and was very comforted by her special spark that was still shining brightly! Joyce and I met in the summer of 1999 at the window looking into our boy's classroom.  They were four and Kyle already knew that Logan was one of his favorite people.  So Joyce and I started hanging out at the park together and taking the kids to the beach and going to all the boy's sporting events and we ended up having some of the most memorable times of our lives together.  I feel so lucky to have been so close to Joyce and to grow even closer to her at the end.  I will always remember our friendship and Joyce's strength and radiance and thoughfulness.  She was beautiful inside and out.

The last time we saw Joyce two months ago she was radiating love as she always did - happy to see our boys get together even though they'd gone to different high schools.  She always made a point of reaching out to set play dates and kept us in the social loop by offering to drive or hosting the kids.  Kind. Warm. Funny. Talented. 
A lovely person who will be greatly missed.

I had the great privilege of knowing Joyce for the past 9 years.  She was kind and welcoming to friends, acquaintances, and strangers alike.  Her strength and will showed in all aspects of her life including business, family and friendships.  She was the first to arrange social events and always initiated opportunities for people to get together and celebrate life.  I will miss Joyce greatly and I appreciate what she did for me personally and my family.
