Velda M Tyson

Velda was born on January 4, 1933 in Eads, Colorado. Velda met and married the love of her life in 1952. They had many adventures and spent 68 wonderful years together before he went to be with the lord. They raised 3 children together.

Velda retired from Longview News Journal where she supervised the mail room for 13 years and received many awards for her work.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Kerry Lee Tyson Phalen and her husband Era Sibley Tyson.

Velda left behind many who will miss her. Her son and his wife Henry and Nina Tyson, her daughter and her husband Cindy and Bennie Whitehead, stepdaughter Karyn Tyson and stepson Don Tyson. 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind 5 sisters, Betty Fagan, Stella Shoemate, Wanda Lacy, Twila Pruitt, and Frankie Wildon.

Velda was a member at Lake O' the Pines Baptist Church. Velda loved the lord and she loved to sit and read her Bible. She is in his presence now, Praise God.

A time of visitation will be held Friday, June 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home followed by a chapel service at 3:00 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 5000 W. Harrison Road, Longview, TX 75604
