Sharon Elois Steadman

Sharon Elois nee Bradley Steadman passed away in Tomball, TX on June 20, 2015 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Her husband and daughters were with her at that time. She was born in Port Author, TX April 24, 1946 to Ernest E. Bradley and Ella Easley Bradley. In her younger years, she lived in Gum Springs, TX. Later she moved to Groves, TX where in 1964 she graduated from Port Neches-Groves H.S. In 1968 she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and in 1971 a graduate degree in Blood Bank Technology, both from UT Medical School in Galveston. She was the first winner of the Fenwal Scholarship offered through the American Association of Blood Banks in 1970. Her picture is displayed on the first floor of John Sealy Hospital in commemoration of her achievement. In 1982, the Veteran's Administration awarded her a commemoration for significant contributions to improvements in operations. Starting in the 1990s, Sharon became dedicated to improving the genetic enrichment of the Ragdoll breed of cat.

Under her cattery, Masquerag Ragdolls, Sharon produced the first and second Ragdolls which attained the highest rank of Supreme Grand Champion in the South Central Region. Her cats went on to receive many regional and international awards and recognition. For several years she was President of the International Ragdoll Cat Association, and also served as the Chairperson for the Ragdoll Breed Committee In TICA. She was also Instrumental in the acceptance of the Ragdoll Breed into the Cat Fancier's Association. During her proprietorship of her second cattery, Latte Dolls, she genetically engineered two new colors, Chocolate and Cinnamon, for the Ragdoll Breed.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Bevan E. Steadman, M.D., daughters, Shannon E. Steadman-Bryant and her husband Daniel K. Bryant, and Jennifer Steadman-Murphy and her husband Zachary Murphy, father, Ernest E. Bradley, brother Allen J. Bradley and Marie Counts-Bradley, 2 grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Lakeview Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:00p.m. to 2:00 p.m. before the service.
