Ruth Blanche Lohry Berry, was born November 5, 1933 in Newton County, Texas, the daughter and oldest child of John and Avis Lohry. She spent her early childhood in Newton County until the family relocated to Pittsburg, Texas when Ruth was about 12 years old. She attended Pittsburg school, graduating in 1952. Earlier that year, a friend of Ruth’s had brought a Navy “buddy” home with him for the weekend...it was not long before Ruth and that Navy buddy—Albert Berry, were married on December 20, 1952. To this union were born two sons—Richard and Mark. The family relocated to Longview, Texas in 1960 where they remained working and raising their family. Ruth spent a number of years as an employee of Longview Manufacturing and later retiring from Pine Tree Schools.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, John and Avis Lohry, her brother, Buddy Lohry, and her oldest son, Richard “Kicker” Berry. Ruth is survived by her niece and nephew as well as two very special uncles—Arvel Weeks and Albert Weeks of Wiergate, Texas.
