Graveside services for Robert Glen "Bob" Carter, 80, of Charleston, S.C., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Nick Sholars officiating, under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview. Mr. Carter passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012.
Robert Glen Carter was born May 25, 1931, in Bluefield, W.Va., to Acie Glen and Lillian Puckett Carter, deceased. He later moved to Glenwood Park, where he attended Elementary and Junior High school. He graduated from Princeton High School in Princeton, W.Va., class of 1949.
He moved to Longview, Texas, in 1957, where he attended LeTourneau Technical Institute and worked at R.G. LeTourneau Inc., prior to becoming the shipping/warehouse foreman for Anvil Products Inc., from which he retired.
He enjoyed being outdoors, especially in the mountains of West Virginia, and his lifelong hobby was music. He was a very talented guitarist and taught several people to play during his lifetime.
Mr. Carter was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Lou Carter; his parents; and three brothers, Howard, Kenneth and Harry Carter.
He is survived by one son, Kevin Robert Carter of Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Ramona Carter Davis of Houston, Texas, and June Carter Bandy of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii; six grandsons, John and Kevin Davis of Houston, Texas, Carter Bandy of Geraldton, Western Australia, Drew Bandy of Tyler, Texas, Palmer Bandy of Spokane, Wash., and Elijah "Eli" Carter of West Allis, Wisc.; one granddaughter, Paige Carter of Racine, Wisc.; one great-grandson, Tobias Bandy of Geraldton, Western Australia; one brother, Edwin Gene Carter of Gilmer, Texas; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Mrch 27, 2012, at Lakeview Funeral Home on Harrison Road in Longview, Texas.
