Robert (Bob) Lowell Miller, 83, of Longview, passed away December 15, 2016 at his residence in Longview. He was born March 16, 1933 in Logansport, IN to Geroge Jackson Miller and Montana Gale Schindler Miller. Bob graduated from high school and served his country by joining the Air Force. He served during the Korean War as well as being stationed in occupied Japan. After returning home from the military, he started college and graduated from Southern Illinois University, where he earned his bachelors in Business Administration. He later would attend St. Louis University, earning his Masters of Business Administration. While in school, he met Patricia Reno, and they were married September 5, 1953 in St. Louis, MO at the Tyler Place Presbyterian Church. Throughout his life, Mr. Miller worked for Continental Can Company. He and his family moved from place to place with the company and ended up settling in Longview in 1978. Mr. Miller tried a little bit of everything in life, serving in the Air Force, he loved to fly and even had his pilot’s license. He has a very special friend, Johnny, that he would bring out on special occasions and practice his ventriloquism skills, but most of all, he was a very dedicated, determined hard worker.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia of Longview; daughter: Kimberly Ferguson and her husband Joel of Gilmer; grandchildren: Patricia Colleen Ferguson of Longview, Winter Marie Martin and her husband Micky of Gilmer, Nathan Jaden-Reno Ferguson of Gilmer; great grandchildren: Alicia Paige Fierros, Talia Danielle Fierros, Nayeli Juanita Fierros, Marcos Levi Pena-Mendoza, Isaac Andrew-Jay Martin, Calmer Micky-Daniel Martin, Daytona Kolten-Thomas Martin; sister: Annabelle Blackburn and her husband Frank of Summit, Utah; nieces: Sonya Weiss and her husband Ted of New York City, NY, Nedra Ann Carlson and her husband Elof of Bloomington, IN, and Sandra Henning and her husband Kenneth of Miami, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A time of visitation with the family will be held from 1 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with services for Mr. Miller starting at 2:00 p.m. at the mausoleum chapel with Rev. Brian Rayburn officiating. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
