Richie and I played together for the Denver Bears in 1971. He was an excellent teammate and had a fantastic season… almost won the triple crown.  I send my best thoughts to his family. May you find peace in your wonderful memories. Tom Grieve

I was so saddened to learn just moments ago that Richie had passed away this past May.  I have just finished writing a book about my father, Jim Burris, and the Denver Bears and have included a chapter mostly devoted to Richie and the fine year he had with us in 1971.  I would love to hear from any of his surviving family should this memory be fortunate enough to reach them.

Richie was the top player on the 1971 Denver Bears, who won the American Association championship, leading the division every day of the season. He has a special place in the hearts of old Denver baseball fans. It was a magical season for the Bears and Denver. RIP Richie. 

I met Richie perhaps some years ago at Jewish Heritage Night with the Tampa Bay Rays, in St. Petersburg, FL. Richie signed autographs and was the consummate gentleman, humble and kind. He was a hero to Jewish baseball fans. I'm sorry he was taken away so early. Best to his loved ones.

Our hearts and prayers go out to you during this time of your loss. I've got to spend time with Richard and it was an honor, he will be greatly missed. Your friends
