R.C. Renfro of Longview, TX, passed away November 19, 2024, at the age of 95. He was born October 7, 1929, in Paducah, TX to Roy R. and Bertie Lee Renfro. He attended Mildred High School in Corsicana, TX from 1947-1950, then graduated with his GED in 1957.
R. C. married Betty Jean Tutt on June 3,1950 in Corsicana, TX, and they remained married for 74 years and 5 months. They had their first child, Michael Ray, in 1952; their daughter, Deborah Jean, in 1954; and Pamela Ann, in 1960. Over the years, his family grew, and grandchildren and great grandchildren were born, and he cherished each and every one in his heart.
R.C. possessed a strong work ethic which enabled him to support his family. When they were first married R.C. worked for Joseph Davis Oil Company in Corsicana, TX as a roustabout. In 1951 he moved to Grand Prairie, TX and went to work for Vought Corporation as a Lathe Operator. As the years passed, he moved up from Operator to Shop Foreman, Leadman, Assistant Industrial Engineer then Lead Production Engineer. His leadership and expertise in production was greatly valued. He retired from LTV, formerly Vought Corporation, after 40 years of excellent service.
He was a respected member at First Baptist Church, Grand Prairie and Mobberly Baptist Church, Longview. He took great pride in his lifetime membership as a Mason and the principles they promoted.
After moving to Longview, TX, R.C. and Betty became faithful members at Mobberly Baptist Church and met and bonded with several couples called the “Old Friends Group”. They spent many hours eating and playing dominoes for nearly 50 years.
R.C. was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Algie Renfro, sister Mildred Pritchett, brother Milton Renfro, sister Tina Aleen Estes, and sister Nellie Jane Williamson. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Betty, son Mike Renfro and wife Wendi, daughter Debbie Thrush and husband Richard, daughter Pam Dillinger and husband Jim, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Services will be at the Lakeview Funeral Home and Chapel on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will be at 1:00 p.m. before the service.
A private family graveside service will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in Longview. Memorials can be made in his honor to Mobberly Baptist Church, 600 E. Loop 281, Longview, TX 75605 or The Alzheimer’s Association.
