Margaret Jean Henderson, 81, of Longview, Texas passed peacefully from this Earth on January 20, 2021.
She was born February 15, 1939 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Theodore Marcus Knight and Genevieve Mae Bewley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James Harold Henderson; second husband, William Henry Jones; twin sister, Marjorie Jane Bearden; and son James (Jay) Henderson, Jr.
She is survived by husband Michael Henderson; daughters Joni Lofton and Jill Smith; cousin Sandra Thames; grandchildren Christopher Foster, Collins Foster, David Lofton, Lauren Lindsey, Kyler Lindsey, Preston Smith, Angela Smith, Madelyn Smith, Brandon Smith, Madeline Smith, and Christian Henderson; and 6 great grandchildren, who will deeply miss her.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served in numerous callings including Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary Presidents, Seminary teacher, Scout Leader, Family Historian, interpreter for the deaf and volunteered countless hours in the Temple. It would be an understatement to say it was in her nature to serve and give.
As a teen she worked on an assembly line building missile heads for the war. She graduated from Bird High School and attended secretarial school after. She worked at Western Electric in Shreveport, threw the Longview news paper for a decade, and retired as an elementary school bus driver where she sang to children over the speaker for 20 years.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private grave side funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, with visitation at 1:00, January 24, 2021 at Lakeview Funeral Home at 5000 W Harrison Rd, Longview, TX 75604.
