Kenneth Wayne McGinnis

Kenneth Wayne McGinnis, 71, of Longview, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at his residence. He was born January 13, 1943 in Longview to Jack and Elizabeth Jordan McGinnis. He graduated from Longview High School in 1961 and married Patsy Stahl on September 18, 1964 at the First Baptist Church in Longview. Ken was owner of McGinnis Carpet Center for 50 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church Longview where he served as a deacon, finance chairman, Sunday school teacher, and chairman of Legacy building committee.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patsy McGinnis of Longview; daughters: Traci Gillette and her fiancé Daniel White of Longview, Karen Kenner and her husband Tony of White Oak; son: Kenny McGinnis of Kilgore; grandchildren: Sarah Gillette of Dallas, Ethan Land of White Oak, Jacklyn Gillette of Longview, Max Gidden of Longview, Aidan and Elijah Kenner of White Oak; sister: Nelda Briley of Burleson, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Services to celebrate his life and home going will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Jones and Don Barron officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 4715 Tenneryville Road, Longview, Texas, 75604. Serving as pallbearers will be: Don Barron, Bobby King, Bill McBride, Steve Watson, Hugh Hasley, and Johnny Land.
