Jimmy Lynn Smith

Jimmy Lynn Smith, 67, of Gilmer, passed away June 14, 2016 at his residence. He was born September 2, 1948 in Athens, Texas to B.A. and Judy Kelley Smith. He went to schools in Athens and soon joined the U.S. Army after. He married Debra Kay Homer on July 17, 1982 in Idabel, Oklahoma. He retired from Texas Utilities after over 36 years of service. He loved to help people. He was one that always stopped to help someone out, so if you were broken down on the side of the road, he was always the one to stop and help you. He absolutely loved to do dirt work. He would take any opportunity to help anyone out that needed any dozer work or pad work done.

He is survived by his Wife: Debra K. Smith of Gilmer; Daughters: Tiffany Jones and her husband Lee of Scotland, Arkansas, Holley Warren of Longview, Andrea Smith and her fiancée- Shane Williamson of Dickinson, Texas; sons: Jason Smith and his wife Amber of Fort Worth, TX, James Travis Smith and his wife Zira of Longview; grandchildren: Madison Jones and Cameron Jones of Scotland, Arkansas, Kaleb Smith of Lindale, Bailey Downs and Haiden Downs of Fort Worth, Ashlyn Smith and Kason Smith of Fort Worth, Haley Warren and Wesley Warren of Longview, Rylee Smith of Longview, and Cody Williamson of Gilmer; his father-in-law: Thomas W. Homer of Gilmer and four cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A time of visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Lakeview Funeral Home, Longview, Texas. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 17, 2016 with Dr. Gregg Zachery officiating. Entombment will follow in the Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
