Funeral services for Florence C. “Red” Lyon, 79 of Longview, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at Lakeview Funeral Home, the Rev. James Pierce officiating. Mrs. Lyon was born May 11, 1931, in Overton, Texas to Claude C. and Lora Belle Thomas Still, and passed away on January 29, 2011, in Longview, Texas.
Red was known for her good cooking. Her family especially loved her pies. She was also happy tending her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Freddie Lyon. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Antwiler and husband Delmo, grand children, Stacey Smith, Chris Chapman, Ashley Woodard, six great grand children, and sisters, Mildred Bradberry, Marie Thomas, Sue Johns, and Shirley Smith.
The family will receive guests from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the funeral home. In lieu of the usual floral remembrances the family request contributions are made to the Alzheimer’s Association 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17Chicago, IL 60601-7633 or www.alz.org in Mrs. Lyons name.
