Billy "Trooper" Smith

Billy “Trooper” Smith, 55, of Longview, Texas passed away August 14, 2015 at his residence in Longview. He was born March 29, 1960 in Fort Bragg, NC to Franklin and Edna Fay Smith. Trooper as he was first called by his mother, graduated from Longview High School in 1978. He worked for LeTourneau and Trinity Industries. He loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his brother, Paul “Buddy” Smith and his wife Tracy of Longbranch, TX; sister: Donna Shands and her husband Keith of Gilmer; nieces and nephews: Mike Hail and his wife Meghann, Sheena Tilbury and her husband Chad, Cecelia Smith and her fiancée Chris Cunningham, Andrew Brigance, Dustin Drew and his significant other Angel Fields, Daniel Drew, Kendall Drew and her fiancée Joe Pelletier; great nieces and nephews: Carleigh Hail, Rylee Tilbury, Waylon Tilbury, Vera Lynn Drew, Alana Fay Drew, Eva Marie Drew, and Nickolas Lumbert; aunts: Ginny Gillis, Darlene Grant, and Charlotte Wallace; uncles: Johnny White, Arnold Smith, Jerry Smith, and Charlie Smith; special friends: John Young and Charles “Bubba” Ward. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home, Longview, Texas.
