It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen “Steve” Strachan on January 18, 2022, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 69. He was a cherished husband, father, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.
Born on December 29, 1952, in Oakland, California, Steve lived most of his life in Boulder County. Like many young people in the 1970’s, he came to Colorado to be close to the mountains and the natural lifestyle of Boulder. He married Christine Cobb in 1982. They settled in Four Mile Canyon and raised two girls, Lisa Ann and Kate Elizabeth. In 1994 they relocated to Lyons and in 2004 ended up in Boulder County close to Longmont.
Steve was co-owner and Vice President of Wood Technology, Inc. of Louisville, Colorado. Steve joined Wood Technology in 1985 and with his business partner, built Wood Technology into a highly respected architectural millwork company.
Above all else, Steve loved his family. Steve’s favorite family trips were to Steamboat Lake or Grand Lake with his boat for water skiing, tubing and lake camping. Steve was an excellent water skier and while being towed by Christine, he slalom jumped over the wake. He would give his children thrilling tube rides in which gleeful screams of “go faster,” echoed on the lake.
In later years, Steve enjoyed golfing with his friends and daughter Lisa at the many local golf courses. He loved spending time with his family at the family cabin in Grand Lake and loved kayaking with his daughter Kate.
He is survived by his wife Christine, his daughters Lisa Ann & Kate Elizabeth, and his brothers Rick Strachan & Chris Strachan. His parents Doug & Helen Strachan, and his sister Jan Strachan Byrne predecease him.
A celebration of life for Stephen "Steve" will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Howe Mortuary & Crematory, 439 Coffman St, Longmont, Colorado 80501.
