Randall Lee Anderson, 61, passed away August 11, 2016 at his home in Longmont with his loving family at his side along with the thoughts and prayers of many.He was born July 12, 1955 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Vendel and Zella (Gustafson) Anderson. Randy grew up in Fort Dodge where he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father, brother Dennis and his uncle Ray. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1978 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of the Tau Bet Pi and Eta Kappa Nu engineering honor societies. After graduating from college Randy began his career in Colorado surveying in remote locations for Public Service Utility Company. He endured several brutal winters as a field engineer working with explosives for Schlumberger in Williston, ND. He returned to Colorado and spent many years working to ensure that medical devices are safe and reliable while employed at Medtronic, Ohmeda and Covidien. Randy helped draft regulations for the International Standards Organization for Electro-Mechanical Compatibility requirements for Medical Devices. He was well respected by the international standards community and was nominated to serve as the EMC committee Convenor for several years. Randy was a Project Manager at Qualcomm working on wireless telecommunications, and obtained Top Secret Clearance to work on government projects.Randy was certified as an Emergency Medical Technician and served as a volunteer firefighter for the City of Louisville Fire Department from 2009 “ 2011.On June 5, 2011 he married Jill (Taylor) Klomhaus at Starved Rock State Park in Oglesby, Illinois.Randy was a true outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, hiking, biking, riding motorcycles, rock climbing, scuba diving and operating Ham radios.He was preceded in death by his parents.Randy is survived by his wife Jill Klomhaus Anderson, children Rachel Klomhaus and Dylan Klomhaus, brother Dennis Anderson, sister-in-law Linda Anderson, niece Katy Leffel and nephew Mark Anderson.Memorial services will be held 4:00pm Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church.
