Nancy was born on September 9, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Edwin and Loraine Jaehnen. Her life took her to Boulder, CO where she built a career as a medical receptionist while her adventurous spirit explored the state in her beloved 1966 VW bug. Nancy’s greatest adventure began when she married Wendall Borchert on September 22, 1979 and became an instant mom to two children, Eric, and Staci.
Nancy was always up for an impromptu escapade, exploring a new hiking trail, or a heart-to-heart talk. She was an ambitious and resourceful professional with the heart and soul of a true creative. Nancy loved her work at Boulder Orthopedics and the Pediatric Center, but it was her lifelong office friends that she cherished most. And she loved a good party, but not only did she attend a party, she was the party, and it was not uncommon for perfect strangers to become instant friends.
Nancy’s other passions included all things furry; her great love and respect of animals equaled that of her love and respect for chocolate. She also loved learning and discovering new things. She would go wherever the road would take her even if it meant taking a detour to the nearest amusement park just to ride the rollercoasters (the more hair raising the better). Being a Grandma, aka Grandma Yancy, was one of her greatest blessings. Giggles, shenanigans, and unconditional love, as well as perfect presents at the perfect time, often defined her. You knew you were truly special if she made up a song about you or bestowed upon you a perfectly fitting, thought-out nickname. Her sense of humor was unmistakable, and her spirit has forever left a permanent imprint on our lives.
Nancy is remembered in love by her husband Wendall Borchert of Boulder, CO; stepdaughter Staci (Jim) Scheurenbrand of Indianola, IA; grandchildren, Samuel Borchert, Jacob Borchert, Madeline Borchert, Zachary Borchert of Erie, CO and Adam Scheurenbrand and Joseph Scheurenbrand of Indianola, IA. Brother Ed of Cincinnati, OH; daughter-in-law Amy Annibal, former daughter-in-law Janet Borchert, nieces, nephews, other family, and a vast and eclectic group of friends.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Viola and Arlene; brothers Billy, Jim, and Bobby and her stepson Eric Borchert.
Please join the family to celebrate her life Saturday, June 12, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Gunbarrel. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
