Michele was a Colorado native and grew up on the Family Farm east of Longmont. She was preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Cornelia Nelson and is survived by four brothers, two sisters, and her two daughters, Arielle Bennett and Megan Bennett.
Michele loved butterflies and the color purple, which was also her birthstone. She enjoyed coloring in her coloring books, but only with colored pencils. She adored her knick-knacks. Michele collected praying hands and crosses, butterflies, unicorns, and roses. She also had a large collection of wooden, mirrored and other boxes. She took great pride in how she presented herself to the world, always keeping a clean home. She absolutely loved to iron clothes, finding the chore to be calming and therapeutic. Michele’s mother and grandmother were amazed by her ironing skills, which was something she was proud of, along with anything her mother thought she did well. She was a very logical person, always trying her best to understand whatever was in front of her. When she didn’t understand something, she wanted to be educated and to know more. She loved learning things together with her daughter, Arielle.
Michele’s life was not without its challenges. She struggled at times but found the strength to hold on. Her family encourages anyone who needs help or suffers from a mental illness, such as bipolar or depression, to know that you are not alone and help is within reach. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness but rather an intense sign of strength and mental awareness. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours a day at 1-800-273-8255.
Michele was a loving and supportive mother. She was never judgmental and was always there for her children, even when times were trying. She never gave up on her children. Likewise, her children never gave up on her. Michele was loved and she will be missed.
A Celebration of Michele's Life was held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, in Longmont, Colorado. Michele wanted her service to resemble a bouquet of flowers, rather than a dark or dreary affair. The family appreciates all those that were able to attend and wore their brightest colors. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com for Michele's family.
