Michael Allen Ryan, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024, after a brief illness. Born on March 6, 1974, to Dianne and H. Allen Ryan of Augusta, Maine, Michael spent his formative years enjoying New England's lakes, ski slopes, and sports fields. He graduated from Proctor Academy in Andover, New Hampshire, where he excelled at football and basketball, and earned a BA in International Relations and Finance from Lake Forest College in Illinois. It was there he met the love of his life, Rosa Valdivia. The two were married on November 14, 1998, in Merida, Mexico, surrounded by cherished family and friends. They lived in Chicago and New York before settling in Colorado to raise their three amazing kids, whom he loved dearly.
Michael’s career path led him to IBM Corporation in Boulder, Colorado, and Geodis Logistics where he worked as a Foreign Trade Manager and created lifelong friendships. He was passionate about his beloved Boston sports teams, the music and lyrics of the Grateful Dead, and anything relating to history, politics, and world events. Michael loved returning to Cobbossee Lake in Maine each summer, where he enjoyed lively debates around the family dinner table, followed by a fierce game of Go Fish with his kids, nieces, and nephews. He was well known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and keen sense of humor that put people at ease and kept everyone laughing.
Michael’s legacy is carried on by his loving family: his wife, Rosa; children, Sophie, Jack, and Evie; mother, Dianne; sister, Tracy; brothers, Stephen and Andrew; nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was predeceased by his father, H. Allen Ryan. Michael’s absence leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who loved him, and he will be dearly missed.
To honor his life, a Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10:00 am, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer Street, Longmont, CO 80501
