Jane grew up in the New Bremen, Ohio area and moved to Longmont in 1954 with her family after completing high school. Jane worked at the Woolworths and J. C. Penny stores on Main Street in downtown Longmont. She would roller skate regularly where she caught the eye of Raymond Dirks. With some help from friends Jane finally agreed to go out with Ray. On November 8, 1959, Jane and Ray were married at First Christian Church (LifeBridge Christian Church). Jane and Ray became parents when Larry Ray Dirks was born in January of 1961.
Jane and Ray were farmers that watched Longmont grow. They worked at whatever was needed for the Dirks Dairy farm. Jane worked on the books, drove tractors, baled hay and whatever was needed. Jane and Ray taught fifth grade Sunday school for more than 20 years at LifeBridge Christian Church and a highlight of Jane’s was the yearly salvation series, where she always shared the GRACE of God, GOD’S RICHES AT CHRIST’S EXPENSE with the youth of the church. Even during the pandemic Jane and Ray watched LifeBridge services online. LifeBridge has always been a big part of their family. Raising the food to operate the Dairy was their lifelong career. Jane and Ray also enjoyed several cruises and always enjoyed various family gatherings.
Jane is survived by her husband of 62 years, Raymond Dirks. She is also survived by her sister Susan Spurr as well as 9 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Larry Ray Dirks, her parents Ed and Freida Becker and her brother Thomas Becker.
A celebration of life for Jane will be held Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM at LifeBridge Christian Church, 10345 Ute Highway, Longmont, Colorado 80504, followed by a reception at 12:00 PM.
