This master parachutist made his last jump on October 27, 2024, at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora. Mark William Healy died from complications following a stem cell transplant there. With him at that moment were his wife, Christine, and his parents, Dick and Marie Healy.
Mark was born on March 9, 1961, at Fort Cambell, KY, into a military family. His family moved (as did his educational opportunities) around our country and in Southeast Asia. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, in 1983. After graduation, he served in the 82d Airborne Division and later left the Army in 1988. He then worked in a series of jobs mostly related to the aerospace industry, landing at Ball Aerospace in 2003. At Ball, subsequently BAE Systems, he rose to the position of Senior Vice President.
Mark was extremely proud of his sons, Cam and Liam, and their educational and business accomplishments. Cam is a PhD candidate at Georgetown University, having graduated earlier from Gonzaga University. Liam graduated from MSU Denver and the University of Denver. He now works at BAE Systems as well. Mark later married the love of his life, Christine Mizelle, and built their home in Berthoud.
Mark was a free spirit. Having lived around the world, his final and longest residence was in Colorado. He enjoyed all sports and the great outdoors; especially canoeing, skiing, and climbing with his family. He loved big dogs – at different points his family included a Newfoundland and two Great Danes. Later in life he took up cooking as a hobby, delving into local and international cuisines with joy.
He is survived by his wife, Christine; his sons, Cam and Liam; his parents, Dick and Marie Healy; his brother, Pat; and his sister, Cathy.
A private family service recognizing his life will be held at the Howe Funeral Home in Longmont, CO, at 1 PM on 31 October 2024.
Donations in Mark’s name can be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, the canine nonprofit “Big Dogs, Huge Paws”, or the US Military Academy’s general fund.
