Mark grew up in Denver and Boulder and attended St. Louis Elementary School in Denver and Sacred Heart of Jesus Elementary School in Boulder. He was a graduate of Boulder High School and the University of Colorado Boulder. After graduation, Mark worked for his father and for St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Mark was one of the kindest people that you would ever meet. He never spoke ill of anyone except the kid that knocked out his front teeth in grade school. He loved his family and friends and was passionate about animals and their welfare. He loved to read, especially Harry Potter and Clive Cussler, and go to movies. Mark loved music, particularly the music of his good friend, Chris Daniels. He annually traveled to Hawaii but never made it to Ireland.
Mark is survived by his sister, Meg Collins, of Boulder; his dear friend and cousin David Utecht, of Rockledge, Florida and numerous other cousins. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy (Schumacher) Collins, his grandparents, and his dear brother, John R. Collins.
A Mass in celebration of Mark’s life will take place on August 6th, 2021, at 10am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 1318 Mapleton Avenue in Boulder.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mark’s name to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. (Please call 303-442-4030, x637 if you would like to make a gift and have HSBV mail a tribute card to the family of those you would like to honor or memorialize.)
