John Mark Bales, resident of Longmont, CO, aged 59, passed away Sunday morning on Dec 6, 2009 at 4:06 AM. He was in surgical ICU for multiple fractures and injuries at Longmont United Hospital and at Denver Health Medical Center after being struck by an automobile the previous Thursday evening out front of his home at 1641 Main Street in Longmont. John was born in Oakland CA March 11, 1950 and grew up in Richmond, CA. His father, Harold W. Bales, died in military air-force service in 1957. John is survived by his mother Frances Marie Dodson Bales Kusner of Boulder, CO, and his two sisters Frances ""Lucia"" Chmiel of Boulder CO and Sylvia Bales of Hillsdale WY and their children. Funeral services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church in Longmont on Thursday Dec 10 at 10 AM, followed by a graveside ceremony at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
