Janet Dennis Williams, age 56, passed away peacefully on March 15 at 5:45 PM after a brave battle against cancer. She was surrounded by her large family, uplifted by the love and prayers of her friends, and held in the hand of God.
Janet was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania in 1964. She raised two loving, creative children—Nicole and Cory—and found great joy in being their mother. Devoted to Christ, Janet was an active member of church and went on mission trips to the Dominican Republic.
Janet moved to Colorado in 2008 and met the love of her life, Kevin, in 2010. Janet and Kevin married in 2012 and she was delighted to add two more children—Wesley and Kelly—to her family. She was also thrilled to add her sons-in-law—Corey and Jordan— and daughters-in-law—Emily and Kaity—to her circle. Janet had an endless supply of love to share and was happiest when surrounded by her family.
Janet’s big, bright heart was a refuge for many. Her playful spirit, warm smile, and easy laugh made her a delight to be around. Her kindness and her joy in people was a balm to our hearts. She worked as a bus driver for Boulder Valley School District and her huge smile and cheerful greetings were a gift to her co-workers. She soon became Head of Dispatch, and found great enjoyment in the many challenges of her job.
Janet treasured her family and friends and cherished every moment with them. She loved to dress up (especially in yellow), ride her beloved horse JohnnyBoy, hold tea parties, and spend evenings out with her friends. She also loved dancing in the kitchen and spending quiet evenings at home.
Her playful spirit led her on adventures with her VW van and with JohnnyBoy. Some of her favorite trips were traveling with her Irish Catholic in-laws to Ireland, participating in a cattle drive through Monument Valley, and visiting family in Texas, New York, and Georgia.
Janet leaves the world brighter for her being in it. She’s taught us love, kindness, forgiveness, devotion, acceptance, celebration, freedom, fun, and courage. She’ll be remembered for her beauty, her love for Christ, and her generous heart. She was a ray of sunshine, the sweet gentle rain, and a bright rainbow all at once.
Janet is survived by her husband Kevin; children Nicole (Corey) and Cory (Emily); step-children Wesley (Kaity) and Kelly (Jordan); mother Donnalee; brothers Clint, Jed and Fred (Leigh); sisters Helen and Ginger (Jason); nieces and nephews; her horse JohnnyBoy, and her many beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her father Don and her sister-in-law Amy, who we know welcomed her gladly.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Boulder, CO on March 22 at 10:00 AM and will be streamed online to shjboulder.org/massonline and the church’s YouTube Channel Sacred Heart of Jesus Boulder.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church. In honor of Janet’s spirit, we invite you to wear bright colors to her service.
