Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Richter

Betty is survived by her son Ronald Richter and wife Lynne Milane of Erie, CO, daughter Cathy Paxton and husband Mitch of Frederick, CO, daughter Sharon Bruning and husband Bob of Louisville, CO; grandchildren Christopher (Libby) Locker, Aaron (Nicole) Locker, Bryan Locker, Joshua Bruning, Meridith Richter; great-grandchildren Emily and Anna Locker, Ava and Claire Locker; sisters Janet Deines of Longmont, CO and Carol (Johnny) Keith of San Antonio, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank E. Richter, parents Sylvan and Leone Iverson, and sisters Natalie Wagner and Shirley Iverson.

Betty was born December 11, 1930 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. On July 29, 1949 she married Frank E. Richter. She lived in the Boulder area for over 64 years, raising her three children, applying her expertise as a seamstress, volunteering at the Boulder Community Hospital, and helping to build a beautiful home with Frank.

She greatly enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, especially having them over in the summer to splash around in the pool.

She loved gardening and growing a variety of beautiful plants and flowers. Her yard was a sanctuary for all kinds of wildlife, including foxes, bears, ducks, hummingbirds, and all other kinds of migrating birds. Betty and her dog Alfie were happy hosts to all their neighbors and neighborhood dogs. She easily and often made friends with everyone she met.

Betty was a devoted member of St. Luke Antiochian Orthodox Church, where she cherished the community and the choir.

A trisagion for Elizabeth will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 7:30 PM at St. Luke Orthodox Christian Church, 722 Austin Ave., Erie, CO 80516. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 722 Austin Ave., Erie, CO 80516. A burial will occur Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 12:30 PM at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 520 Colliers Blvd., Erie, CO 80516.
