Edwin E. Zink

On January 23, 2017 we lost our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.Edwin Eugene Zink, Gene, 89, was born to Leah and Paul Zink in Gillette, WY, on July 3, 1927.Gene is survived by his wife, Betty Ann (Weingardt) and his four children; Mark (Debbie), Scott (Amy), Jill (David) and Brooke (John); his nine grandchildren Zach (Katie) Ruppel, Lexie (Brian) Carpenter, Madison Ruppel, Frank Ruppel, Mitchell & Logan Zink, Sydney, Onika & Nash Baker, two step grandchildren, Jordan & Garrett Swinhart and one great grandchild, Boone Ruppel.After graduating from Smith Cotton High School in Sedalia, MO, Gene enlisted in the United States Navy. He served 4 1/2 years aboard numerous ships serving in the So. Pacific as a motor mechanic 3rd Class. Following his military service, he attended the University of Missouri. A career in packaging sales included 27 years affiliated with Borden Chemical Packaging when in 1995, he was named the company's Salesman of the Year.Although an avid golfer, reader and traveler, his passion was involvement with the activities of his grandchildren. They proudly claim PaPa Gene the #1 Grandpa!A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 27, 2017, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, officiated by Deacon Mike Berens.
