Douglas Ronald Bergman

Doug was born on June 16, 1949 in Minnesota. After graduating from Maine West High School in Des Plaines, Illinois in 1967, he enlisted in the United States Army. As a paratrooper, he gained the rank of 2nd lieutenant, spending many months fighting in the Vietnam crisis. Doug was proud of his service and being a veteran that he chose to leave this world on the day that honors our veterans, Nov 11th. After his discharge, he went on to be a very accomplished author. His biggest achievement was having a book published called “Names I Can’t Remember.” This book was about his time spent in Vietnam and the people he crossed paths with. Doug was also a member of the American Legion Post 32 in Longmont where he spent many days playing Texas hold’em poker with his buddies. He had a love of playing cards and could be found in casinos playing in competition poker tournaments. He had a passion for the Theatre and arts. Doug loved his family and being close to all his family was very important to him. He was especially fond of his nieces and nephews and would love to have long conversations with them over lunch and a burger or a cup of joe.

He is survived by his mother, Joy Daugherty; brothers, David James Bergman and Bradley Steward Bergman; nieces and nephews, Kelli Bergman and her daughter, Riley Delilah, Jacqueline Bergman, Bennett Daniel Bergman (fiancé Madison) , Chandler Ann Bergman, Chris (Candice) Monahan and their children, Bode and Ryker, Patrick Monahan, Michaela (Mike) Chambers and their daughter Eleanor and Kaitlin (Joe) Stanton and their daughters Mackenzie and Olive.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Bennett Bergman.

Doug’s wishes were to not have any formal funeral services, rather a fun party and get together to celebrate his life.
