Dorothy Mae Lesser

Dorothy Mae Lesser, 86, of Longmont, CO died January 31, 2014. Dorothy was born on July 1, 1927 in Longmont to Edward & Anna (Lenhardt) Lowery.Dorothy married LeRoy Lesser on July 8, 1945 at Peace Lutheran Church in Longmont. She was a farm wife and also worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Cheyenne, WY where she pushed supplies in a wheel barrel, the Wayside Inn in Berthoud, baked at Perkins, was a cook at Applewood Living Center, the Modern Laundry and Gould Manufacturing in Longmont. Dorothy and LeRoy moved to Longmont in 1984 and she retired in 1992. Dorothy was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, helping with Ladies Aid for many years and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed playing bingo, marbles and cards, baking and making homemade noodles, watching game shows, polka dancing, visiting Black Hawk, bowling league and traveling.Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband LeRoy, granddaughter Jessica Wissing, son-in-law Kenny Hawkins, sister Ruby Masterson and brother Donald Lowery.Dorothy is survived by daughters Jean Anderson, Nancy (Tom) Wissing and Barb (Russ) Rountree, all of Longmont, Carol Hawkins (Dan Gould) of Platteville, Sue (Jim) Starr of Denver and Peggy (Bill) Curtis of Chinquapin, NC, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great granddaughters and four brothers Roy, Bill, Larry and Dale Lowery.Visitation will be from 5:00 “ 8:00pm, Monday, February 3, 2014 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00am, Tuesday, February 4 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial at Foothills Gardens of Memory.
