Betty Mae Everett touched the lives of many with her compassionate spirit and nurturing presence. Born on a crisp Wednesday on November 17th of 1937, she was the eldest of seven sisters in a large, loving family of fifteen children. She was born to the late Rev. John Thomas and Lucy Mae French in Louisville, Ky., where she was a founding member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, which she supported throughout her life.
Betty spent her formative years in the Jefferson County School System, graduating from Central High School. She graduated from Metropolitan State University in Denver with a bachelor in nursing degree. She worked as a nurse at Boulder Community Hospital and nurse and nursing supervisor at Longmont United Hospital. Her dedication to nursing spanned over four decades, a career that led her to care for countless individuals with grace and skill. After retiring, Betty devoted her time to her creative passions - quilting, knitting, sewing, and painting. She enjoyed spending time with her family, exploring the world through travel, and tending to her beloved garden. An active member of her local church, she found solace and peace in the great outdoors, whether taking leisurely drives through the countryside or simply admiring the beauty of nature.
Betty's caring nature extended beyond her work and hobbies; it was woven into the very fabric of who she was. Though she has joined her loved ones who passed before her, her memory lives on in the hearts of those she cherished. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. John Thomas French and Lucy Mae French; brothers Jessie, John, George, Raymond, Anthony, Robert, and Reverend Thomas French, Van Coleman, and Gene and Edward Elam; by her sisters, Alice Faye White and Wanda Moore; and by her son Larry, Jr. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, survived by her brother, Douglas French, and sisters, Ethel French, Dorothy Stevenson, Jean Forbush and Margie Adams; three sons, Todd (Lisa), Michael (Christl), Brian (Alanna); grandchildren Justin (Melissa), Chad (Jessie), Mathew, Kayla, Ayla, and Lenna; great-grandchildren Miles, Maeve, and Leah; and a wide circle of family and friends who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
A funeral service for Betty is planned for Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 10:00AM and will be held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Memories and condolences may be shared
