Ann Elizabeth (Willich) Smith, 70 passed away on July 12, 2024 in Longmont, Colorado after her battle with the rare disease Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). She died at home surrounded by her family.
She was born December, 10, 1953 in Horton Kansas to Henry and Gladys Willich. She was the sixth of seven children in Mercier, Kansas. Ann graduated from Powhattan High School in 1971. She moved to Topeka after graduating where she worked for the State of Kansas. In 1974 Ann moved to Longmont and met the love of her life, Dan, while working as a cashier at King Soopers. Dan and Ann were married on June 25, 1977 in Longmont. Throughout her life she worked as a bank teller at Bank Western and most recently was a customer service representative for plastic injection molding companies until 2015.
Ann was an avid sewer and quilter. She also loved to bake for her grandkids, cook for family gatherings and enjoyed walking 9 miles each day. Her greatest joy was attending her 9 grandchildren’s various activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant granddaughter, Theresa.
She is survived by her husband Dan of 47 years, three daughter’s Tara (Tony) Schroer of Colby, KS, Korri (Brian) Mein of Longmont, and Mandy (Chris) Safranek of Longmont. She is also survived by her four brothers, Dennis (Rose) Willich, Tom (Marilyn) Willich, Keith (Jean) Willich, and Fred (Lorraine) Willich, two sisters Karen (Corky-deceased) Channel, Barb (Beau) Wiggins. She will be missed by her nine grandchildren Christopher, Mikayla, Paige (Colten), Sammantha, Jade, Tiffani, Victoria, Luc, and Shanley, and three great-grandchildren Zane, Kayler, and Kynzley. Ann is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She attended mass regularly at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Longmont. There will be a rosary held at 6pm on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 3791 Pike Rd., Longmont, Colorado 80503. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 10:30am at St. Francis of Assisi with a reception immediately following. Inurnment will be held at 2pm at Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont, Colorado.
The family would like to thank Tru Community Care for all their care and support during Ann’s illness. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Tru Community Care in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
