Alda K. Gagnon, 82, formerly of Denver, Dacono, and Idaho Springs, passed away October 14, 2016, at the Villas at Sunny Acres in Thornton.She was born May 17, 1934, in Los Angeles, California, to Cash and Alison (Kennicott) Criswell. She moved with her family to Denver and attended Cathedral High School.On November 2, 1952 she married Robert Gagnon in Palo Alto, California. In the early years of their marriage Robert was in the US Air Force, and they lived in Texas and New York before settling permanently in Colorado.Later in life Alda returned to school and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Metro State University. Alda was a family counselor at Arapah House for 20 years. She was proud to assist individuals and their families in the fight against drug and alcohol addiction.Alda was a Girl Scout leader for forty-four years. She enjoyed camping and crafts, which included nature crafts and trash crafts. She loved to help girls grow up to be happy and confident young women, and take responsibility in life. Alda always loved children and animals, and she rescued and cared for many pets.Alda is survived by: her husband, Robert Gagnon; four siblings, Sue Johnson, Doxie Robinson, Janie Frisby, and Kenneth Smith (Mary); five children, Janie Alice Linn (Frank), Michel Gagnon (Holly), Denise Johnson (Brent), Robert Stephen Gagnon (Jackie), and Erin Gagnon; eleven grandchildren, Jesse Linn, LeAnne Ladwig, Jane Bellavance, Robert Linn (Sigi), Jason Linn, Tyler Fe Gagnon, Gunnar Johnson, Zoë Alda Johnson, Jennifer Tejero (Donavon), Jacynda Gagnon, and Megan Gagnon; six great grandchildren, Mike Ulanski, Sean Ulanski, Nick Bellavance, Kyle Ladwig, Kaitlyn Tejero, and Evan Tejero; and five great great grandchildren, Corbin, Josh, Harper, Ava, and Taylor Ulanski.She was preceded in death by her parents and two grandchildren, Mark Linn and Jessie Erin Gagnon.A celebration of Alda's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 29, 2016, at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
