Born September 29, 1928 in Grimaldi, Cosenza, Italy. Passed away on December 29, 2011 in Bellflower, California.
Teresa was preceded in death by her husband John, who passed away in 2007 after 49 years of marriage. Teresa is survived by her three daughters Tina LeGrand of Frisco, Texas, Carol Long of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania and Cindee Anselmo of Long Beach, California as well as son-in law Michael Long. She was also the proud grandmother to Lisa LeGrand and Ashley Long.
Teresa was the 7th child of Erminia Gabrielli Anselmo and Vittorio Anselmo. In 1954 at the age of 26 Teresa decided to join her two brothers, Aleardo and Vicenzo in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She traveled by sea aboard the Saturina and entered the country via Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. She met her husband John in 1957 in Priest River, Idaho and moved to Los Angeles County from Priest River, Idaho in 1962. She became a permanent citizen of the United States shortly thereafter. Teresa and John made Long Beach, California their home in 1976 where many wonderful memories and long lasting friendships were made. Teresa worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District for 20 years. Teresa and John were active members of St. Joseph Parish Community and the St. Joseph Senior Club. Teresa was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother with a generous soul who loved her family and friends very much. She was well known for her wonderful Italian cooking and her freshly baked bread. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Friends may celebrate her life during a viewing at Lubyen Family Mortuary in Long Beach on Monday, January 2nd, from 4 – 6pm. A rosary service will follow at 6:00pm. The funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Long Beach on Tuesday, January 3rd at 10:30am.
