Dennis Key Pollman

Born May 19, 1945 in Long Beach, CA, passed away February 5, 2010 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife,

Bette; step-daughters, Cristin Nolette and Stacy Chandler; granddaughter, Morgan Nolette; sisters, Patricia Pollman, Mareta

Loy Hanna; Linda Ferrera and 2 nieces and 2 nephews. He is predeceased by father and mother, Solanus and Ernestine

Pollman; and brother, James M. Pollman. Dennis was the grandson of Merle Key Guertin (MKG), founder of the Best

Western Motel chain. He was the 4th great nephew of Francis Scott Key, who wrote the Star Spangled Banner.

Dennis attended Blackfox Military Academy and graduated from Progress High School. He served 4 years in the Peace

Corps, earned a B.A. in Business Admin from S. Utah University, was president of Sigma Pi Epsilon Fraternity.

He was also an active member of the Seal Beach and Los Alamitos Chamber, Seal Beach Lions Club, Cypress Rotary,

Elks #888, Long Beach Police Officers Assoc, Long Beach Century Club, 11-55 Foundation, Executive's Association of

Orange County, American Agents Alliance, Associate of Seal Beach Republican Women Foundation, California

Automobile Assigned Risk Program, Elite One, Model T Club, Ford Victoria Club, and Mercedes Benz Club. In 1980

Dennis with the help of two others, founded the Long Beach, California Visitors and Convention Bureau, where he

served as Executive Director and Board member from 1980-1986. In 2005 he received the Outstanding Alumni

Award from Southern Utah University. Viewing will be held Thursday, February 11th from 3-7pm at Luyben Family Dilday-

Mottell Mortuary, 5161 E. Arbor Rd, Long Beach 90808, with a memorial service at All Saints Episcopal Church, 346

Termino Ave, Long Beach, Friday, February 12 at 12:00pm. Interment service to directly follow at Forest Lawn, 4471

Lincoln Ave, Cypress 90630. A Celebration of Dennis' life will be held at River's End Restaurant immediately

following the interment service, located on the beach at First Street in Seal Beach.
