Frank MacFadden Matheson 94, of London, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2013, at the Stratford General Hospital with his wife Madeline at his side. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to John Roderick and Edith Florence Matheson he lived most of his life in London and at the family cottage in Kettle Point.
Frank is survived by his wife and best friend, Magdalene {Madeline} May {nee: Zubryk}. Their 72nd wedding anniversary was a scant two weeks away. Frank was extremely proud of his three sons, Neil {Judy}, of Stratford, Greg {Sylvia} of Calgary, and Ross {Mary Beth}, of Jupiter, Florida. He was pre-deceased by six siblings but is survived by his sisters Ethel {Jim} Valleau, of Edmonton, Betty of Forest & a brother Hal {Joan} of London as well as his four grandchildren Aaron {Randi} of Calgary, Flora, Anne & Margaret of Stratford, one great grandson Rylan & many nieces, nephews, neighbours & friends.
Frank worked in office positions in the plumbing & heating industry for Crane Ltd., Dundas Plumbing & Heating & Patton Brothers. After Frank retired, almost three decades ago, he & Madeline travelled to many parts of the world. He was especially fond of his time with friends & family at his cottage on Frank's Drive in Kettle Point where, as usual, his & Madeline's home was the centre of all the fun gatherings. Frank loved playing & singing traditional country music &, in the last week of his life, managed to yodel for one of his Stratford nurses.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 5 from 12 noon until the service at 2 pm at the Needham Funeral Home, 520 Dundas Street, London. Memorial donations may be made in Frank's name to the Canadian Red Cross in recognition of their Calgary after-flood efforts.
