Thomas J. Maloney, age 93 of Garden City, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023. Beloved husband of Maryann. Loving father of Kathleen (James) Johnson. Proud papa of Erin (Brandon) Hoard and Thomas (Cintya Coello) Johnson. Cherished great-grandfather of Gannon, Ryann, and Eleanor. Dear brother of Harold. Thomas was preceded in death by parents Harold and Pauline, along with siblings Patricia and Charles.
Thomas served as an army sergeant during the Korean War. He received a merit award for his dedication to freeing the Korean people. Upon his return home, he began a career at Sinclair Oil as a driver. During his spare time, he was a member of the VFW, 3rd infantry division, and the NRA. He will be remembered for taking care of everyone and giving one wise word of advice: “think.”
A visitation for Thomas will be held Tuesday, April 11, from 4-8pm at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd., Livonia, MI 48152, with a vigil service at 7pm. A funeral in state will occur Wednesday, April 12, at 9:30am at St Thomas the Apostle Parish, 31350 Beechwood Ave., Garden City, MI 48135, followed by a funeral mass beginning at 10am.
