To the Byrnes Family:
My sincere condolences to the entire Byrnes Clan, you have lost an extraordinary human being, and those that have known him through the years surely mourn his passing. Growing up on Mead Street next door to Harry, Verna and the boys have left me with an abundance of good memories, good times and lasting impressions to numerous to recall here. In the late 50s I was an impressible young kid and the Byrnes boys were very cool guys. Even then it seemed to me that Tom had it “together” and was someone who had a plan to grab life and live it. Judging by his life that was well lived, he certainly accomplished it. Your good memories of him will carry you through the tough days. Be well and God bless you all.

R.I.P. my Godfather.  To my cousins-I cannot begin to imagine what you are feeling. Know that I’m thinking of you and that I love you. 

Tom was especially important to me.  He was five years older, my oldest cousin, and thus the “example”.  Tom was the guy who could do anything; he was an inspiration. 

My fondest memory of Tom is when he visited my wife and I at our new home.  He was all dressed up to go out that evening and very excited.  He told us about the girl he was going to see.  They had dated some time ago and had just gotten reacquainted.  Her name was Suzanne.  A few months later they were engaged.  The last time I saw Tom, all he talked about was how he missed Sue. 

I hope he rests easy now.

         I am so sorry for your loss.  Tom was an amazing man and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and in my case, cousin.  I remember how close he and Sue were, and I know they are happy to be reunited.  May your fond memories of him bring comfort to your hearts.

Rob, Ken and Patty,
I have had the great pleasure of knowing your dad for nearly 25 years. During those years, we had many good times building, flying and maintaining 54TB as well as taking several memorable trips. Few people have had the opportunity to spend time with a person like him. If I could only remember half of what I learned from him… I’d be pretty smart! I will always remember the days we spent together, Tom. You changed my life for the better, thank you. We will all miss you. 


Tom was a wonderful friend; he and I had many conversations at the flying field every time we were there. He was an encyclopedic source of history and knowledge about anything that flew, and taught me a great deal about flying. We also had many discussions about life in general, and his wisdom was reflected in those talks. He often talked lovingly about his sons and daughter and wife. I was fortunate enough to meet them all and he was truly a blessed man of family. It was a great burden of sadness to find out of his passing. But as he spoke to me of it, his spiritual beliefs promise that he will dwell in the Lord's house in peace and joy. Tom, your last flight was your greatest victory!
