Sally Ann Kandah, born in Detroit to Alexander and Miriam Kandah, passed away on October 4, 2024. Sally was a remarkable woman who embraced the finer things in life with grace and elegance, especially the arts and theater. Always impeccably put together, she radiated warmth, positivity, and a generous spirit that touched everyone around her.
Sally's selflessness was evident in the way she cared deeply for her family and friends, often putting their needs above her own. She adored her nieces and nephews, treating them with the love and care of a mother. Her friends were equally cherished, becoming an extended family in her eyes.
Sally dedicated much of her life to education, serving as a teacher with Detroit Public Schools for many years. Her passion for children extended beyond the classroom, as she cared deeply about the well-being of youth not just in Detroit but around the world, especially in Palestine. A progressive thinker and advocate for social justice, Sally stayed informed and engaged in the causes she believed in.
Her adventurous spirit led her to live and teach in Germany for several years, where she embraced new experiences and opportunities. Sally's bright personality and pioneering nature were truly inspiring to those who knew her.
Upon retiring from teaching, Sally reinvented herself as a real estate agent, continuing to thrive in her new career. She lived her life with passion and purpose, always seeking to make a difference.
Sally leaves behind four beloved nieces and nephews Marcella (John Wright) Harb, Dr. John (Mania) Harb, Sonia (Taha Dahabra) Harb, Dr. Frederick (Laura) Harb. She also leaves eight great-nieces and nephews: Ava Harb, Sofie Harb, Jackson Wright, Cameron Harb, Zane Dahabra, Leela Dahabra, Mariana Harb, and Marcus Harb, as well as her brother-in-law, Fred Harb.
In addition to her parents, Sally is preceded in death by her dear sister, Clair Harb, with whom she shared a special bond. May she be reunited with her loved ones and welcomed home with open arms.
May her memory be eternal, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Sally will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J Will Funeral Homes, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. A trisagion will occur Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 7:00 PM, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. A funeral in state will occur Wednesday, October 9, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Basilica of St Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 18100 Merriman Rd, Livonia, Michigan 48152. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Basilica of St Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 18100 Merriman Rd, Livonia, Michigan 48152.
Sally will be laid to rest in Parkview Memorial Cemetery, 34205 Five Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48154.
