We all ask what someone died from, so here you go... it was a horrible disease called Parkinson's. Actually, he beat this disease by the Lord almighty taking him before the final stages.
Bob was born February 9, 1941 in Galien, Michigan. While at Galien High School (fighting Gaels), he set multiple Michigan state records in football, basketball, and track. He attracted athletic offers from Texas, Nebraska, and MAC schools (Go Broncos). He settled on The Western Michigan University (actually, he was a die-hard Notre Dame fan).
After his college phase of life, Bob continued his love of sports by playing on several slow and fast pitch softball teams that won various district and regional titles. After his softball career, Bob became the owner and operator of a Snelling & Snelling employment agency in St. Joseph, Michigan.
As a typical Michigander, he loved fishing, golfing, and the seasons. However, he did have an attraction to the numbers...tracking the stock market and maybe a blackjack gaming opportunity...luckiest guy I knew.
Bob was married to Shirley L. Doehrer for 61 years and had the wonderful opportunity of raising their son Robert A. Doehrer...unconditional love was ever present in this family.
Dad is survived by his God loving wife Shirley, his son Robbie (still looking for his lost shaker of salt), best daughter in law Jennifer Doehrer, and two wildcat granddaughters, Sophie and Callie. Bob lost his brothers Allen Doehrer and Jerry Doehrer on 12/24/2007 and 10/28/2022, respectively.
As Bob would say "You wake up one day and realize, life is short, really too short. Go and help people, make them smile, and let God fill in the rest of the blanks!"
Our family hopes that everyone makes a difference in someone's life!!
A private family memorial will be held for Bob.
