Bob was born on December 27th, 1952. He was the third of ten children born to his parents Don and Mary Davis. He was a beloved brother to Michael (Carrie), Donna (Mike), Catherine (Andy), Paul, Richard (Carrie), Mary (Brian), Rose (Dave), Kimberly (Bill), and Bryan. He adored all his siblings, as well as his nieces, nephews, and cousins. Throughout his life, he has also gained many great friendships that have lasted a lifetime.
Bob was a decorated basketball player for Bishop Borgess High School, where he graduated from in 1971. He then followed in the footsteps of his father and eldest brother by joining the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters. He worked very hard and took great pride in his trade. He was a Union man through and through. Soon after, he developed a lifelong love for the game of rugby and helped found the Detroit Tradesmen Rugby Football Club. His sister, sons, and nephew would go on to play for them in later years. He would remain passionate and dedicated to this team for the remainder of his life and he was one of the first founders to be inducted into its Hall of Fame.
In 1986, Bob married the love of his life, Milica Davis. He was very proud to have found such a loyal, loving, and patient woman with whom to spend his life. He admired and matched her sense of devotion to love and family. They went on to have three children during their 38-year marriage who Bob loved unconditionally. He did anything and everything to protect, provide, and care for his eldest son, Nicholas, his only daughter, Rebecca, and his youngest son, Alexander. Although he had a tough exterior, he made sure that all of his children knew how proud of them he was and how much he loved them. They are very grateful to have had such a strong and loving man as their Dad.
Robert Joseph Davis was a man of many titles, “Big Bad Bob”, “Chef Boy RD”, and of course, “The King of All Men”. Whether he gave himself these titles or was given them by loved ones is unimportant. What is important is that Bob’s most cherished titles were Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Husband, and Father. These are the titles that he worked so hard to live up to every day of his life. He put family and friends above all else. He was loyal, selfless, strong, and always stood up for what he believed in. He was a man of God and looked to his faith in both good and bad times. His life on earth has ended, but he will live on in the hearts of all the people who loved him and whose lives he touched.
