Born on August 11, 1937, Robert dedicated his life to education, teaching 5th and 6th grade at Southfield Public Schools for 39 years, where he inspired countless students.
A devoted family man, Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judy; daughter Sue (Paul) and their children Jenna, Jessie, Krista; son Bob (Michelle) and their children Brandon (Adri), Lindsey; great-grandson Daniel and brother-in-law Dave (Sandy). He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret, stepmother Jean, brother Randy, father-in-law Robert, mother-in-law Margaret, and grandson Joshua.
Robert was a graduate of Redford High School and the University of Michigan. He was a kind and fun-loving individual who enjoyed camping and traveling and was actively involved in various clubs including the Mustang Club, Oldsmobile Club, and Square Dancing. He was also the chairperson for Music Under the Stars in Livonia, a member of the Redford Jaycees, Redford Township Lighting Commission, and a volunteer at Greenfield Village. His passion for Michigan football, bowling, and golf were well known among his friends and family.
He was a long-time member of Meadowbrook Congregational Church in Novi, Michigan. A funeral visitation for Robert will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army and Alzheimer's Association in memory of Robert, honoring his compassionate spirit. His legacy of joy, dedication, and community involvement will be deeply missed and forever cherished by those who knew him.
