Paul was born to the late Romeo and Mary Mallie on May 24, 1938, as a first-generation American child of Maltese immigrants. He was raised in Detroit, Michigan alongside his five siblings, Anthony (Renate), Romeo Jr. (Martha), Juliet McGlinch (Michael), John (Patricia), and Dennis. He is fondly remembered as the patriarch of his family.
Paul is a graduate of both St. Vincent High School in Detroit and Eastern Michigan University. He served in the military for two years, primarily serving at Fort Devens, MA. He enjoyed a rewarding career with Chrysler Corporation for 34 years, spending much of his tenure in Labor Relations and Human Resources. After retiring from Chrysler, he took a role as Head of Human Resources for the city of Garden City.
One of Paul’s favorite hobbies was working with clocks. He took classes to learn clock repair and maintenance, and he eventually began teaching clock repair himself at Schoolcraft College and Henry Ford Museum. In addition to teaching, Paul developed his own clock repair and maintenance business which kept him busy all through retirement.
Paul’s faith was one of the most important aspects of his life, and he was active in his parish at St. Aidan’s Catholic Church. He served as president of the Men’s Club for several years and was a member of the new church building committee. He was instrumental in obtaining the bells for the new church bell tower.
Paul embraced volunteer work. For many years, he was a board member for the Livonia Spree, which raises money in support of the local community. He was also a volunteer with the Plymouth Museum, The Henry Ford, and the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors.
Family was everything to Paul, and he cherished his. In addition to his wife, Fran, Paul is survived by his four children, Christopher (Julianne), Mark (Kristen), Karen, and Lisa Eppinger (Charles). He is the proud and beloved grandfather of Megan, Laura, Alex, Michael, Sarah, Connor, Claire, Nathan, Justin and Jordan.
A visitation for Paul will be held from 2PM to 8PM with a Rosary at 7PM on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at St. Aidan’s Church, 17500 Farmington Rd, Livonia, Mi 48152 at 9:30AM (funeral in state 9:00AM).
