Mark B. McClain

Mark is survived by his wife Madeline (Hewitt) and his son Eric, his brother Scott (Connie) McClain, sister-in-law Susan (Mark) Miller, many nieces and nephews and dear Lizzie. Mark was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda McClain.

Mark was talented musically; he could play the accordion, clarinet and piano. He was also very athletic, in his youth he played softball and hockey. Mark was employed for Aco Hardware Corporation for 39 years, he held many positions throughout his career but was a buyer/merchandiser for his final years with the company. He often enjoyed traveling overseas to China for work related business.

After his retirement, he was a part time school bus driver for Livonia Public Schools. Mark worked closely with Arc of Northwest Wayne County and the Special Olympics. He was a dedicated coach for 38 years for the Special Olympics, he was instrumental in developing a year round sports team program, some of his original athletes still participate to this day.

Mark had a wonderful life filled with many special family and friends. He will be missed by those that knew him.

A memorial gathering for Mark will be held Monday, June 26, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. A memorial mass will occur Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 10:30 AM (gathering at 10:00 AM) at St Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh Rd, Livonia, Michigan 48152.
