on June 23, 2024. Born on November 9, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to Lottie and Stanley Trzcinski, Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Charles (Charlie) Trzcinski. She grew up In River Rouge, Michigan and attended Our Lady of Lourdes where she met and eventually married her high school sweetheart Bob Stefan. The two were married for 63 years. After spending a year at Marygrove College, she attended Eastern Michigan University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Masters degree in Reading. She was a dedicated teacher and enjoyed her years of service in the River Rouge School District. After living on the same street for fifty years, it was her strong commitment to family that motivated her to relocate to Northville, Michigan in order to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Joan was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, knitting, and quilting with her friends on Wednesdays. She loved Sunday dinners where her family would gather for a meal and share stories. Joan’s memory will be forever cherished by her four children Sandy (Joe) Jackman, Robert (Tina) Stefan, Susan (Craig) Wolski, Lynne (Dave) Cadotte. She also leaves behind grandchildren who loved her dearly: Lauren (Adam), Clark, Stephen, Josh, Amanda, Christopher, Elizabeth, Natalie, Anna, Noah, Vivian. Her sister Jean Poet, sister-in-law Karen Trzcinski, and many nieces, nephews, and family will also hold her memory close. Joan’s legacy of strong love and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Road, Livonia, MI 48152. A funeral mass will take place at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth, MI 48170 on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Drew Poet Foundation or checks payable to The Alexander McLaren Foundation.
