He was the beloved husband of Loraine Raniszewski for 61 wonderful years, and a loving father to Susan (Phillip) Kopeck and David Raniszewski. James was a proud grandfather to Steven Kopeck and Alexander Kopeck. He was also a dear brother to Joanne (Leon) Buda and Robert (Charlene) Raniszewski, and a caring brother-in-law to Ilene Raniszewski.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Josephine Raniszewski, and his siblings, Regina (John) Galyean, Joseph Raniszewski, and Raymond Raniszewski.
A dedicated public servant, James retired with honor as a Detroit Police Sergeant from the Detroit Police Department. His commitment to his community extended beyond his professional life; he was an enthusiastic member and club officer of the Ever-Seven Sports Club. His love for sports was infectious, and he remained actively involved in national and local softball organizations. Remarkably, James continued to play softball for many of these organizations even at the age of 80. He also had a deep passion for baseball, bowling, and enjoyed playing on the DPD hockey team until he was 35.
James will be remembered for his kind heart, his unwavering dedication to his family, and his passion for living life to the fullest. His gentle spirit, warm smile, and love for a good game will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
